Reap and Rush Combat Basics

Elemental combat

July 28 unified and shrunk the player hitbox toward the torso to cut false hits. That is the most important combat patch for newcomers: if you played the demo, the full game should feel fairer when grazing packs.

Horde density is still the real boss. Orbit, keep an exit lane, and do not hug walls unless your kit wants it. Meat Cleaver dash speed was buffed in 1.0.3. Earth-element bonuses now correctly apply to multi-hit skills—so Earth lanes are less of a trap than at launch.

Named combat hazards

  • Blood Cocoon: visual enter/leave feedback was improved on 12 August. HP used to grow during the event; that was fixed 31 July. Learn the circle colors—several event range colors were retuned.
  • Fire Calamity / Fire Tribulation: pillars could die before VFX; a delay was added.
  • Stunned enemies that could not be killed—fixed 29 July. If a pack looks frozen, update.
  • Summon shops: taking summons in and out of Chenghuang shops could freeze the client. Summons now stay put when entering the trading post (12 August).

Pacing

Yin Laws want rhythm. Fusion damage bonuses were retuned in 1.0.1. Bouncing stones plus tributes once dealt zero damage. Superbody displayed 90% but did not pay it. Believe combat feel after a patch, not an old tooltip.

Practice with Five Elements and Yin Spells.
